Shi Yuejun (b. 1970 in Liuhe, China - d. December 20, 2006 in Tonghua, China) was a Chinese serial killer who between September 24, 2006 and September 29, 2006 murdered 12 people and wounded four in Tonghua, Jilin Province.

On September 29, 2006, Yuejun was arrested and sentenced to death on November 26, 2006. On December 20, 2006 Shi was executed.

Shi described his motive as "revenge by the humiliations that he suffered by the society".


Police catch 'Jilin butcher'

Police in Northeast China's Jilin Province on Friday arrested a 37-year-old man accused of killing 13 people and injuring four others.

Following a six-day manhunt, Shi Yuejun, a butcher from Tonghua in Jilin Province, was caught in a cornfield in the outskirts of the county's Liunan Town.

A total of 14,000 people, including 2,000 police, were involved in the hunt for Shi, who is alleged to have killed eight people and seriously injured three last Sunday in Tonghua and Liuhe counties. He is alleged to have killed five people and injured one more while trying to evade capture.

Police offered no motive for Shi's alleged killing spree, but local people said that he had a history of psychological problems.

The Ministry of Public Security issued a Class-A warrant for Shi on Thursday, offering a reward of 100,000 yuan (US$12,500).


China Court sentences butcher

A court in the northeast has sentenced to death a local butcher convicted of murdering 12 of his customers and wounding five others, state press reported Sunday.

Shi Yuejun (石悅軍) was sentenced to death by an intermediate court in Tonghua, Jilin Province on Saturday, the Legal Daily reported.

Shi committed the murders from Sept. 24 to Sept. 29 in a series of knifings that occurred in or around Liunan Township, the paper said.
